DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!
Howie Pattow of
Sound Magazine

In 1995, Brian Yaskulka and I were knee-deep in the studio, working on the Partridge Family tribute band, Sound Magazine. We were concentrating a lot of time on dissecting the background vocals. Now, Brian is the kind of artist who throws himself into a pet project wholeheartedly. So, in an effort to maximize his time, he would listen to Partridge Family tracks on the CD player in his Explorer.

One day, he had to make a stop in an office building in Beverly Hills. While strolling into the lobby of said building, who should he see hanging out in the lobby? Why, it was David Cassidy. Brian took a moment to walk up to David, who was relaxing with a cigarette. Brian introduces himself to David (we actually met him a year earlier and gave him a preliminary bio on the band which he assured us he would read) and pulls the CD of "Shopping Bag" out of his jacket pocket to show David.

Now, David's reaction to this is priceless. David takes the CD and looks at it. He then looks at Brian and says, "You walk AROUND with this?" Classic!

Brian explains that he is breaking down the background vocal parts for the tribute project. David is examining the sleeve and package and remarks to Brian, "Now you KNOW I didn't sing any of the background vocals, right?". Brian restrains himself from laughter. Of course he knows that. Brian is the president of the Westdale High branch of the John Bahler fan club.

WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM, OFFICER? Lisa S., Los Angeles, CA

Early in 1990, I had a tape of my fave Partridge Family songs at my office. One night, before closing up, coworkers Nancy and Samantha asked if they could borrow the tape.

Everyonw went home, and the alarm was truned on in the building. Sam and Nancy had gone to the parking lot, and were sitting in Sam's car, loudly listening to the tape and singing along.

After a while, police car drove up. An officer cameout and tapped on the car window, asking what the girls were doing on the premisis after dark. Flustered, they nervously explained they were employees at the office building, and they were just listening to music. The officer sternly told them they should not be there, and it was time to go home. The police man got back in his car. As rattled Sam and Nancy said goodnight for the evening, the patrol car took off....with the officer singing "point me in the direction of Albuquereeeeeee...." over the P.A.

A TOOTHSOME TALE OF THE OSMONDS
Ricki

I have a tale about going to an Osmond Brothers concert in NY's Madison Square Garden in the early 70's. My mother (wonderful woman that she is) took my best friend and me to the concert. We got so excited that we ran from our seats in the sky down to the stage. I got to touch Marie's hair! Anyway, when we finally got back to our seats, my mom looked somewhat different. Little did I know that as she was yelling for us to return to our seats, her upper plate fell out and onto the floor, getting lost amongst the throng of screaming teens! She never found it. All the way home I was horrified that my friend would notice! Imagine what the cleanup crew at the garden must have thought when they found my mom's teeth on the floor! What a woman - to sacrifice her teeth for her daughter's love of the Osmonds! Don't the Osmonds have enought teeth of their own? OMG, if my mother ever found out I told that story in cyber space, I'll have to start cooking Thanksgiving dinner at my own house!

SENTIMENTAL OVER SAJID
Tina S.

I saw Sajid Khan on The Big Valley years ago. I realy was star struck by him. I used to watch Maya all the time. At the ripe old age of thirteen I met him at the riding stable he boarded his horse at. A happy memory for me, we went riding together that day. I was supposed to meet him there again a few weeks later. It didn't happen, it rained that day, and I never say him again. He was a very nice person, and I always wondered what became of him. It's nice to know someone else remembers him. If you should happen to hear anything more about him, out of curiousity, I would like to know.

SIGOURNEY SEARCH
Max @ Partridgemania.com

This story touched me and was told to me by the person it happened to. Back in the early 80 a friend of mine was in the Marines and was on leave in New York City. This was his big oppurtunity to find Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Aliens, Working Girl, Galaxy Quest). He truly loved her but hadn't the first clue how to go about meeting her. Anyway, while in Time Square he bought a customized T-Shirt and had them put on it "I'm looking for Sigourney Weaver" in big block letters. Now, New Yorks are strange but they can be very helpful. One person advised him that her agent worked at a specific address. He stood outside the doorway of the building for less than an hour when someone saw the t-shirt and said she live at XX E.72nd St. Well, he was off and running. He got to the entry when the doorman denied she lived there. He wouldn't leave. He asked if he could leave a note, "No!" could he send her flowers, "No! She doesn't live here the doorman repeated. After a couple of hours of waiting the doorman asked him to leave or he would call the police. In despair, he thought he'd take a walk in Central Park since it was so close. While walking towards the park a woman toting one of those grocery folding carts behind her noticed the t-shirt and broke out laughing. It was HER and when he told her his story she agreed to have a drink with him. I'll always remember the way he beamed when he told the story. Years later while trying to find work in Alien Resurection I met Sigouney Weaver and asked her about it. It was a great ice breaker and we laughed about it. She did admit to me that she was a little nervous about the whole thing and that my friend continued to send her things afterward and she had to put a stop to it but I can tell she enjoyed telling her side of it too.

RINGO RULES!
Ritchie G., Los Angeles California

In 1995 right around the time of the Beatles Anthology happenings a friend of mine was heading up the promotion department at KLSX in Los Angeles. Both of us being big Beatle fans he had gotten in the good graces of Ringo and the people in his inner sanctum. When he had learned of Ringo's desire to see some of his old movies and videos he put the worlds greatest rock drummer in touch with me. I met Paul in 93 but didnt have the opportunity to get my picture with him. When I met Ringo I brought along my own personal photographer (and wife) to capture the moment.

I handed Ringo a big box of videos and he gladly posed for a picture with me and spent a few minutes before he hurriedly ran upstairs to his hotel room to watch his tapes. Now if I can find out what George is missing from his video collection I might be able to get that picture as well. I still keep an empty spot for it on my wall.
